INDIAN RIVER CORVETTE CLUB
Meeting Minutes
Friday, January 14, 2005

The 1st meeting of year 2005 of the Indian River Corvette Club was Called to Order by President Rob Callery at about 6:50 p.m. at Bombardiers. Rob welcomed members and thanked all for their attendance.

Sign-in / Member Info Sheet was available. Rob reminded members to sign in.  No new members or guests attended this meeting.

Meeting Minutes for our last official 2004 club meeting in November were typed and available for review at this meeting and on our website.  A motion was made and seconded to approve the previous meeting minutes as submitted.  Secretary Betty Brousseau was not available for this meeting, and Sandy Ericsson took minutes.

President Rob expressly thanked Ro Bryant for her efforts in organizing our gala Christmas party at the Indian River Club – great time had by all!  We all thank Paradise Central (Dan and Ro Bryant) for their generosity in providing the live entertainment.  And Rob thanked all involved in presenting him with his customized racing helmet – it’s awesome, Rob loves it and appreciates the thoughtfulness.  Rob then wished Happy Birthday to all January birthday members.

INDIAN RIVER CORVETTE CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

FEBRUARY 1, 2005
CANNON’S

President Rob Callery called the meeting to order and welcomed the attending Board of Directors:

Bill Ulisky, Ro Bryant, Lucy and Dick Kesler, Tom and Hollyann Quina, Sue Smith, Harry Butler, Betty Brousseau.

Cathy Callery and Vilas Smith were guest.

John Muldoon introduced a letter from Toby Turner regarding the Firefighters Indian River County Fair, hoping that our Club would participate.  There will be parking for about 20 cars and chicken dinners for driver and spouse would be included as well as entrance to Fair.  Rob pointed out to John that this item was already on our Agenda and we would be addressing it.

Old Business

By-laws have been updated and Tom will get them on the Website.

Ro said Tom has never asked for reimbursement – Ro said expenses should be turned in – this applies to everyone.

Ro, representing the Sunshine Committee, said that Amelia has had by-pass surgery.  Should we send flowers?  It was agreed to send a $50 arrangement to the home.

Club Checks – new signature cards need to be signed – Ro will update and get the signatures and then take to Riverside Bank.  Ro, Rob and Bill will sign the cards.

Ro asked if we wanted the Christmas Party at the same place as last year - Indian River Country Club – all agreed it was a nice place for the party and arrangements should be made for December 10, 2005.  It would save us $150 if we new a member of the club.  Rob knows someone and will make the call, but anyone else could also help out if they knew a member

Service Chevrolet – we are still waiting for them to hear on our sponsorship and agreed to give them one more week to respond.  It was suggested that we may have to go elsewhere, such as Palm Bay. Harry said he would like to be involved if we look elsewhere.

Mystery Dinner Meeting Place – Ro mentioned that we should think of somewhere other  than the Mobil Station because the road is always dug up.  Discussion ensued about the Indian River Credit Union, or Riverside Park – we must consider good egress from the lot.  This will be brought up at a monthly meeting.

New Business:

Firefighters Fair & Charities – most felt we did not want to be committed for 2 days at the Firefighters Fair, and did not like the fact that our cars are not too well respected at non-car type shows.   Also, we felt we had committed ourselves to the Citrus Elementary School and working with the kids gave us a lot of satisfaction.

It was decided to take ½ of the proceeds from next month’s 50/50 and donate to the Firefighters Fair.  John will be told that this will be done this year, but in the future, our charity will be Citrus Elementary School and everyone should be reminded that all activities must go through Hollyann and Sue before making a commitment.

Overall Participation

Rob asked if anyone had any suggestions – all felt that there were many activities – with most being car related.

Activities

Economy Run on February 19th – Sue mentioned that we would meet at Riverside Park.  Maps are made up of C 4’s and C 5’s.  There will be 5 stops – combination gas run and poker run.  We will be ending at Marsh Landing – Sue will be there to direct people.

Andretti Theme Park – Saturday, March 26, 2005

St. Pat’s Parade – we should show support for Karl.

Newsletter

Past newsletters are not on Website – Dick will talk to Tom.

Dick will do questionnaire to profile each member and Hollyann thought picture of car and people – maybe only using first names – would be nice for recognition purposes.

Treasurer’s Report

All info has been turned over to Ro from Amy.

Historian Report

Report on Website done by Lucy was very well received; Good job, Lucy.

Webmaster Report

Tom is planning a few things for the Website, such as a picture of a shirt or jacket – telling where to go to get them.  Rob mentioned how any shirt can be brought into Southern Embroidery and they will put whatever you want on.  Cathie said she would ask Southern Embroidery what they had available for advertising on the Website.

Tom asked if we wanted to work on buying a brick for the Corvette Museum – a small one cost $150; large, $600.  We could do this by using several 50/50’s – could we ask Palm Bay to help?

Tom made a motion to take ½ of club’s 50/50 starting in March to start a Brick Fund – donations would also be welcome – maybe some sort of bank – water bottle – we could put loose change in?

Betty Skelton

How we should recognize a member of our club with national distinction was discussed.                Possibly holding a picnic where everyone brings something.  Sue and Hollyann will work               on this for a date possibly in June at Riverside Park near the foot of the bridge.

Rob mentioned that he thought Silver Springs might be a nice change from the Keys.  Hollyann said Tampa club would like to join us.

Adjourn – Harry Butler made a motion to adjourn and it was seconded.

Respectfully submitted,

Betty Brousseau
Secretary

INDIAN RIVER CORVETTE CLUB
Meeting Minutes
Friday, February 11, 2005

The 2nd meeting of year 2005 of the Indian River Corvette Club was called to order by Vice President Bill Ulisky.  Rob Callery was unable to attend due to a business commitment.

Sign-in/Member Info Sheet was available.

Meeting Minutes for our last meeting were typed and available for review at this meeting and on our website.  A motion was made and seconded to approve the previous meeting minutes as submitted.  Boards of Directors minutes were also available.

Vice President Bill thanked Terry and Sue for the great Mystery Ride to Café Caribe – great place and great food.

Treasurer’s Report:  Treasurer Ro Bryant announced that she has received the money from Amy.   Ro is in process of getting bank documents signed by officers of the club.  All checks will require two signatures.

 Old Business

 Citrus Elementary School:

A motion was made and seconded stating that Citrus Elementary School will be our beneficiary for the year.  Thank you’s have been received for our 2004 contribution and were available for review.

Fire Fighters Fair

The board had suggested that ½ of the 50/50 be donated to the Firefighters, but Dan suggested that $100 would be more fitting.  A motion was made and seconded.

 Corvette Museum Brick

A brick can be bought at the Museum that will list our Club.  A small one is $100 and a large one is $600.  It could be paid for using the 50/50 proceeds, but Dan suggested that we use money from our Corporate Sponsor, when we get one, for this.  Bill asked for any opposition; there being none, it was agreed we would get a large brick.

 Corporate Sponsor:

Dan stated that he had contacted Service Chevrolet three times and they still have not come through with a check.  Dennis had told Dan to fax him an invoice, which Dan has done, and Dennis would send $500.  This has not received to date.  Palm Bay is willing to sponsor us in the amount of $1,000.  Tom White suggested we try once more with Service Chevrolet and offered to contact someone there.  John Muldoon also offered to talk to the owner.  Bill asked Tom to make contact as soon as possible and let Dan and Ro know the outcome.

 Mystery Run Meeting Place

The meeting place needs to be changed   Suggestions such as Riverside Park near the bridge, Indian River Credit Union, or T J Maxx at Miracle Mile were discussed.   For ease of getting onto the streets, it was thought T J Maxx would be the best.  Tom Quina will get this information out through the Yahoo e-Mail and will work on getting the Website changed after a new map is done.

Amelia Gilford is in the hospital after having bypass surgery – we will send flowers after she arrives home.

He will also get together with Toby.  Sign-in/Member Info Sheet was available.

President Rob commented on this being a very busy month  - plenty of activities for all.  He also welcomed a new member, Dale, with a white ’65 Corvette.  Wayne & Eva Sandlin now have a 1990 944 Porsche Cabriolet with a Corvette 400 hp Engine – now there is one in the parking lot that goes faster than Rob’s.  They also still have their everyday Silver Z06.

President Rob thanked Vice President Bill Ulisky for taking care of the February meeting.  He and Marlene were not in attendance tonight due to another engagement.  Rob also thanked Harry for the mystery ride – hope we all get a chance to get back there again.

Management here at Bombardier’s has mentioned to Rob that people coming to the meetings are helping themselves to Iced Tea and Coffee, without ordering  - please – don’t make the management have to speak again on this subject; the they have been good to us here; let’s support them.

Board  - Rob has heard negative comments about the board and wanted to mention that the Board has no personal agenda, nor does he – this is a social club and the board wants what is best for the members and their vehicles – looking out for the member’s best interests.  If anyone wants to change the by-laws to allow any member to commit us and our cars to any organization, without first bringing it to the board, we can change it.  Rob asked for a show of hands and the members overwhelmingly voted to let the by-laws stand as they are.  No one is to commit the club members or their cars to any organization without first checking with the Board Members in charge of Activities.

INDIAN RIVER CORVETTE CLUB EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
MINUTES

 APRIL 4, 2005

CANNON’S

President Rob Callery called the meeting to order and welcomed the attending Board of Directors:

Ro Bryant, Harry Butler, Betty Brousseau, Lucy and Dick Kesler, Hollyann Quina (Tom has not been feeling well, but is recuperating), Sue Smith.

Cathy Callery, Terry Smith and Vilas Smith were guests.

Rob called the meeting to order at 7:15.  He stated that in addition to Tom feeling under the weather; Bill Ulisky, our Vice President, is also absent due to a bad back.  Rob thanked the Board for meeting tonight instead of the usual Tuesday

Old Business:

Rob addressed John Muldoon’s resignation from the Club, stating that he would like no formal discussion this evening.  It is done, and we should put it behind us and learn from the events.  I feel it is unfortunate that his misunderstanding and misinterpretation has escalated into the drama played out before the general membership.  My only hope is that the newer members, who have not seen every “act in this play” since 1999, continue to come to our meetings and events.

Rob asked Ro if the Sunshine Committee has incurred any expenses.  Ro reported none.  Also, does anyone know how Amelia is doing?  It was reported that she is home, but leg is infected.  Marlene knows her and Ro will ask her Friday night to keep us posted.  Betty is doing well and she appreciated our cards and flowers.

Rob said he had sent a Thank You e-mail to Service Chevrolet for being our sponsor.  It was recommended that we find a way to thank them properly.  Maybe a note signed by President; or should we make up a plaque – Harry suggested we get Tom White to make up a nice plaque – Cathie will take care of this.  “Service Chevrolet is the proud sponsor of the Indian River Corvette Club”.  Cathy stated that this could run from $30-$60.  A motion was made, seconded and unanimously voted to allow an expenditure up to $60.  Harry lightly suggested we could ask Tom to donate it – and Cathie said we would suggest this or possibly Tom could give  it to us at cost.   Our sponsor should be on our banner and everything we have.  Terry wondered if Service Chevrolet had applications for the IRCC Membership and would follow up on this.  Harry mentioned that the Austin sponsor gave every new Corvette owner a first year’s annual membership in the Club.  We could consider giving this promotion membership at $20 rather than the $30.  Betty Brousseau will contact Bob Slebonick, General Sales Manager, at Service Chevrolet to present this to him.  We could also teach the new owner where all the buttons are, etc.  Also ask him if one of his people could come to one of our meetings – say a Corvette Service Tech?

 New Business:

Brick Design

National Corvette Museum.  Cathie offered wording of what could go on the brick “Indian River Corvette Club – Florida’s Friendliest Corvette Club – Est. 1999”.  Harry made a motion; it was seconded to suggest this wording to the general membership on Friday.  Wayne Sandlin, one of our newer members graciously offered to blow up samples in order for us to present them for a club vote and general membership approval.  Dick and Harry offered to get this to Wayne and Rob will call Wayne.

Secretary’s Report

Rob asked Betty if she was running into any problems.  Is it going O.K.?  Betty stated that last monthly meeting was difficult because the large room made it hard to hear.  Other than that, all is fine.

Treasurer’s Report

No mention of our balance should be made public in our newsletter or anywhere else.

Ro will reimburse the person who wished to remain anonymous who donated $210 to the club.  Ro will also send $100, made out to the Firefighter’s Victim’s Burn Fund to Toby Turner.  This was approved by the general membership at the March 11th meeting.  Toby has already sent a Thank You note to Sue and Terry’s home.  Ro will also advise Toby of our P.O. Box address.

History Report

Lucy stated she had nothing to report – she will file Toby’s thank you note.

Newsletter Editor Report

Dick stated that he gave the Newsletter to Tom.  He brought information from Eckler’s & Wings and Wheels, PSL.   Brad Shearer wants to know is anyone is going to Eckler’s – Dick and Lucy, Hollyann & Tom, Sue and Terry plan to go, meeting at the Mobil station near 90th at 9.  Rob will also ask at the meeting on Friday.

Activities

April 9th – Eckler’s Spring Fest – go to lunch together

April 16th – Vettes at the Port – meet at the Mobil near 90th at 9.  $30 entry fee unless you sign up by the 8th; then is it $25. Terry suggested we might call and see if they will extend the early discounted entry fee until after our Friday’s meeting.  We could call in the number.  Sue will call before Friday to see if they would be willing to wait.

April 26th – Mystery Dinner Run – Karl and Bonnie

May 7th    - Corvettes on the Circle - Skyway Circle - Sarasota – Dick & Lucy are going.

May 7th    - Moroso Motorsports Park

 May 14th - Stuart Club

May 21st – McKee Botanical Garden Tour – 10 am tour, then lunch.  Fee is $6 - $8.  Ro said members get 3 people in at a discount. Sue said discounts for groups are $1 off per person.

May 31st – Mystery Dinner Run  - Cliff & Terry – but they have not paid their dues – Hollyann said Cliff comes into the Credit Union regularly – she will ask if they still plan to do this Run.

November 5th -Silver Springs – It has been decided we will go here this year rather than to the Keys.  Only 8 people went last year.  Harry offered to contact the club in Silver Springs to get Host hotels, send us flyers, etc.  Dick and Lucy said the show in Silver Springs is really nice.

 Other New Business:

Can we change banks?  Karl is at Indian River National Bank.  They have a free checking account – from Riverside Bank to Indian River – approved by all.

Documentation that we are getting the room at the Indian River Club for comp – Rob will get the name for Ro.  She just wants to make sure we have the room.  She has paid $150 – and this could be used for the band.

Ro also mentioned that our Insurance was due – Rob assured her that she could pay that – it is a $1,000,000 Liability policy that covers the board and members.

Rob wanted to reiterate that our mission statement is to be “The Friendliest Corvette Club in the State of Florida”.  Let us not lose sight of this.  Our purpose, as stated in the current by-laws, is to provide its membership an opportunity to participate in organized competition, promote greater enjoyment of their Corvettes, and to promote and participate in community activities in order to develop a greater understanding and spirit of cooperation between the community and all automotive enthusiasts.

Rob thanked each and every one of the Board for giving time and energies to uphold these missions.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:05.

Respectfully submitted,

Elizabeth A. Brousseau
Secretary

Murder mystery progressive dinner – 3 stops – first we were greeted by Ro & Dan and their Court for hors d’oeuvres; then on to Sue and Terry’s for salad; then to Longevity Spa for dinner, dancing and the conclusion of the play.  A great time enjoyed by a good crowd with appreciation to all who worked so hard to make it a success.  Tom, as usual, outdid himself and made a photo collage for each host – they were very memorable!  Thank you, Tom.
