HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO
YOU ALL!
On March 12, 2004, the Indian River Corvette Club held its 49th regular meeting and the 3rd of 2004. Rob welcomed our newest couple, Jerry and Renae Brock. Harry Butler ran at Moroso on March 6th and had a great time. Sue and Terry outlined the events for April, starting with the St Pats Parade on March 13th. Plan to attend the 50th regular meeting of the club on April 9th.
Mystery Dinner Run, March 30, was organized by Sue & Terry. 15 Corvettes, a van and a Phantom caravanned to Gweeds Gangsters Tuesday Night Cruise-In at the Treasure Coast Mall in Jensen Beach. We spent a short time looking at 100+ 1981 and older cars gathered there and then headed up to R.J. Gators in Port St Lucie for a late dinner. It was another great evening for those attending.
Ten cars from the club ''made'' the St Pats Parade on Ocean Drive on March 13th. It was a beautiful Saturday morning. Those attending were, Muldoon, Uliskys, Callerys, Espositos, Bryants, Whites, Toth, Smiths, Steenes and Keslers.
March 20, 2004 -12 Hours At Sebring- Attending were Quinas, Callerys, and Butler. It was rumored that the new 2005 Corvette C-6 would make an appearance but that did not materialize. However, some nice brochures were available at the GM booth. See Robs account at the end of the Newsletter

HELLO TO All OUR FRIENDS IN THE CLUB. THINGS ARE GOING FINE UP HERE IN HARRISON, ARKANSAS. THE WEATHER IS PRETTY GOOD, WITH A LITTLE SPRING RAIN, AND MILD TEMPERATURES FOR THE MOST PART. I AM GOING TO BRANSON TOMORROW TO MEET WITH MY AGENT AND PROBABLY AUDITION FOR ONE OF THE SHOWS UP THERE. HARD TO READ PEOPLE UP THERE IN THE ENTERTAINMENT FIELD. THEY ARE VERY POKER FACED ABOUT NEWCOMERS. IF THEY LIKE WHAT THEY HEAR OR NOT IS HARD TO TELL. IF I GET THE JOB, I WILL START IN APRIL, AROUND THE 1ST.
AGAIN HELLO TO EVERYONE IN THE CLUB...........KEEP IN TOUCH.

HARRISON, AR
Cathie and I had a great time at Sebring. What a perfect day. Weather was spectacular .and the #3 car came in first in GTS class, 4th overall.
The best part of the day was when the #4 car broke (too bad). We walked over to the Corvette paddock area. car wasn't there, yet...but Max Pappas and Dave Hill were. I went up to Mr. Hill (only the 3rd Corvette Chief engineer in 51 years) and asked him to sign my hat. He graciously did so, and proceeded to talk to Cathie and I for over 10 minutes before the #4 was dragged in.
I got a PERSONAL
APOLOGY from him for having to wait for my Z06. When I told
him I ordered one after hearing him speak in Nashville, then seeing the cars
in front of the Coliseum, he asked me if I was enjoying it. I told him
it was an awesome car. He grinned and said "You realize you have the
ultimate C-5." "However, I'm sorry you had to wait for it.
You did, didn't you?" I said "Yes, 4 months." Told him I was
supposed to pick it up the 2nd week of August, and I ended up going to the
Museum and getting it Dec.19th. He thought that was pretty neat. Told me
they ended up having to autoclave the carbon fiber hoods. He said they learned
a lot on this car.
He asked if we have seen the C-6. Told him yes. He said it is a great car,
too. Cathie asked when the C-6 Z06 version will be out. He said they
will debut it January 2005 and start sales in the spring. He said it
will cost a little more but be a "whole lot more car."...again,
grinning ear to ear.
It was a tremendous opportunity. I was in the right place at the right time. I had 2 cameras on me....and didn't even think to get a photo. Damn.
But the autograph and the memory, the race, THAT TRACK,....as I said...a perfect day.
Harry and I
can't wait to go back and drive it. He has a place in Wisconsin that is going
to hook me up with racing wheels and tires. After the trip to PA, Ohio, and
the 10th Anniversary Celebration in Bowling Green though.
Have a great week.
