JUNE BIRTHDAYS
17th - Denver Sperry, 22nd - Jerry Weick, 27th - Joanne Wolfe,
30th - Dr Alan Erde, 31st - Eva Sandlin
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU ALL!
On Friday June 10, 2005 the Indian River Corvette Club held its 63nd regular meeting. Rob thanked Betty & Vi for hosting the May Mystery Dinner Run to Lobster Shanty. With regrets, Rob announced the death of our former waitress, Dee on May 31st. The museum brick has been confirmed by the NCM in Bowling Green, KY. Sue outlined the coming activities. Hollyann won the 50/50 and herded us all out to Ritas for dessert.
Sue, Crystal and Scott enjoyed a walk through McKee's Garden in June.
Keslers will be hosting the June Mystery Dinner Run on June 28th. Hope you all can make it!
Steve Pfiester, co-owner along with his wife Bonnie of Longevity Fitness Club And Spa in Vero Beach, competed June 4th in the Central Florida District Bodybuilding & Figure Championships.
The extremely tough competition was held over the weekend in Sarasota.
Steve won first place in the Men's Open Division, Light-Heavyweight Class. Steve started competing about 13 years ago and enjoys the challenge along with the accountability for maintaining a healthy weight.
This year was extremely rewarding because not only did Steve win his weight class, but he trained 59 year old Josefina Monasterio (our very own local TV 10 personality) for her very first body building show (a long time dream of hers) and she too took 1st place in the Master's Women Over 40 Class.
Longevity Fitness Club and Spa, an exclusively for women club, is located at 650 12th Street, Vero Beach, FL. 32960 or check them out on the web http://www.longevityclubs.com/index.htm

RACING AT BIG BEND TEXAS BY HARRY BUTLER
I left Vero April 14 and returned on May 15.
I raced in the Big Bend Open Road Race, Fort Stockton, TX – 3rd place in 140 mph avg. (139.951 mph)
I raced in the Bonneville 100, West Wendover, NV – 6th place in 140 mph avg. (139.964 mph)
Distance driven – 7173 miles
Time actually driving – 120 hours
Diesel Fuel consumed – 633 Gallons
Avg Price of Diesel – $2.254
Number of flat tires on Trailer – 3
I want to thank Herb and Michele Garvie, Mitch Clark and Rick Vigue for helping out with my living costs on the trip either by putting me up, or paying for the motel. Herb and Mitch also let me store the car and trailer at their place.
Texas had the lowest Diesel and Gas prices. I actually saw Regular gas as low as $1.95 and Diesel at $2.08
Florida and Nevada have the highest Diesel and Gas prices, although I did pay 2.469 in Green River, Utah. My opinion is we are getting ripped off by the oil companies and the federal and state governments. I can guarantee that the gas tax is not going back into the road system. There are parts of the Interstate system that are in terrible shape. Also there is no reason why diesel fuel should cost as much as premium gas.
Found a shorter route from west Texas to northern Nevada thanks to Mitch and Dave. Cut about 150 miles off the drive and the roads were better.
Next race is the Gamblers Run in July.
Take care, Harry
