IRCC OFF TO A GREAT START FOR 2006

THE PREZ SEZ:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who pledged their support for the club and our activities in the coming year. Numerous members have volunteered to help whenever needed.  If we spread the work around, no one will be overburdened!

Looks like 2006 is off to a great start.  Approximately 40 Indian River Corvette Club members will be attending the January function at Hurricane Harbor.

There are several events at the end of the month so check the web site for details.

Bonnie and Cathie are working very hard to set up a variety of events for this year so check the schedule often.

We hope to see you all at the regularly scheduled club meetings on the second Friday of each month.

Here's waving at you.............

JAY LENO AND CORVETTE Z06
WILL  BE THE PACE CAR DUO

A specially outfitted Corvette Z06 with Leno will serve as the official pace car of the 48th running of the Daytona 500. this makes the second consecutive year that a Corvette has been selected for the honor.

This is the first time that a pace car actually has more power than the  race cars competing.  Just so you can tell with one is the Corvette, Dupont has given it an intricate paintwork that creates the look of tremendous speed, even sitting still. The hot to cool color transition starts with Lemon Drop Yellow on the nose and Lemon Glow, Amber Ecstasy, Blazing Copper, and Hot Poppy. Some how I don't think you will be able to miss the Corvette.

The Daytona 500 is one of the largest events in motor sports, drawing more than 168,000 fans to the track and 11 million television viewers.

CHRISTMAS PARTY
SPECTACULAR EVENT!

I'm sure every club member that came to the Christmas party was impressed with how great every thing was organized, presented and decorated the food was great.  Ro Bryant really knows how to throw a party. The pictures are up on the website. Everyone looked great. We had a lot of fun with the gift exchange and the dancing. Dan  Bryant had a ball with his harem of gorgeous women (check web pics).  I have never seen a bigger smile.

Rob Callery was honored for his long and faithful service to the club as  Richard Kesler took over the honors of President. Dick introduced the new members of the board and thanked the members leaving the board for their great service.

A great time was had by all and if you missed it, plan for December 9th this year's party.

NOTES  OF INTEREST
FROM OUR HISTORIAN

Since 2003, I have been historian for the Indian River Corvette Club. Appointed by the elected officers, I serve on the Board of Directors for the club. My duties include collecting pictures, recording events and assembling other interesting information concerning the membership and their Corvettes. Members are encouraged to provide me with appropriate pictures and articles for inclusion in the history books.

History books are brought to the dinner meetings on the second Friday of each month. All club history books are displayed for the member's perusal at the annual Christmas party.  At the end of each year, I write a history of the club's activities for that year.

CORVETTE ICON
DAVE HILL RETIRING

Chief engineer and vehicle line executive Dave Hill has been involved with Corvette for the past three decades. He was responsible for the refocus of the brand with his effort to increase the quality control, comfort and the day to day usability which has lead to the car's current  level of refinement.

Hill is a 41 year veteran of General Motors, started at Cadillac and moved to the Corvette team in 1993. He has truly helped make Corvette a legend and a car second to none.

Dave Hill is the type of person that loves the Corvette. He will stop and talk to everyone and is interested in any problems and wants to hear from you how you like your own Vette and why.

I am sure he will be missed by all of us.

TOM WALLACE
NEW CHIEF ENGINEER

Corvette's new chief engineer Tom Wallace on January 1, 2006 took over the reins from  Dave Hill..  As head of Corvette Nation, Wallace will become only the fourth person to carry the title.

Wallace began his career as a cooperative student with Buick Motor Division in 1970. He most recently  was the vehicle line executive for small/midsize truck division.  He was a star in the Sports Car Club of America for more than 30 years, raced professionally in the International Motor Sports Assoc., droved the 12 hours at Sebring and the Daytona 24 hour events. Both his sons are avid road racers.

Since Wallace and Dave Hill worked together and have been friends for years he feels there will not be major changes in the Corvette operations..
