THE PREZ SEZ:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who pledged their support for the club and our activities in the coming year. Numerous members have volunteered to help whenever needed. If we spread the work around, no one will be overburdened! Looks like 2006 is off to a great start. Approximately 40 Indian River Corvette Club members will be attending the January function at Hurricane Harbor. There are several events at the end of the month so check the web site for details. Bonnie and Cathie are working very hard to set up a variety of events for this year so check the schedule often. We hope to see you all at the regularly scheduled club meetings on the second Friday of each month. Here's waving at you............. |
JAY LENO AND CORVETTE Z06 A specially outfitted Corvette Z06 with Leno will serve as the official pace car of the 48th running of the Daytona 500. this makes the second consecutive year that a Corvette has been selected for the honor. CHRISTMAS PARTY I'm sure every club member that came to the Christmas party was impressed with how great every thing was organized,
presented and decorated the food was great. Ro Bryant really knows how to throw a party. The pictures are up on the website. Everyone looked great. We had a lot of fun with the gift exchange and the dancing. Dan Bryant had a ball with his harem of gorgeous women (check web pics). I have never seen a bigger smile.

CORVETTE ICON Chief engineer and vehicle line executive Dave Hill has been involved with Corvette for the past three decades. He was responsible for the refocus of the brand with his effort to increase the quality control, comfort and the day to day usability which has lead to the car's current level of refinement.
Hill is a 41 year veteran of General Motors, started at Cadillac and moved to the Corvette team in 1993. He has truly helped make Corvette a legend and a car second to none.
Dave Hill is the type of person that loves the Corvette. He will stop and talk to everyone and is interested in any problems and wants to hear from you how you like your own Vette and why.
I am sure he will be missed by all of us. TOM WALLACE Corvette's new chief engineer Tom Wallace on January 1, 2006 took over the reins from Dave Hill.. As head of Corvette Nation, Wallace will become only the fourth person to carry the title. Wallace began his career as a cooperative student with Buick Motor Division in 1970. He most recently was the vehicle line executive for small/midsize truck division. He was a star in the Sports Car Club of America for more than 30 years, raced professionally in the International Motor Sports Assoc., droved the 12 hours at Sebring and the Daytona 24 hour events. Both his sons are avid road racers. Since Wallace and Dave Hill worked together and have been friends for years he feels there will not be major changes in the Corvette operations.. |
