MYSTERY DINNER NIGHT RUN
Bonnie and Steve Pfiester picked a great place for the club dinner run, Zapata’s in Port St. Lucie. We had a fantastic turn out of members and it was a great ride. Zapata’s gave us a private dinning area and we could be loud and silly. The waiter really gave us great service, the food and drinks came out in rapid order and every thing was fabulous. Bonnie had brought along sombreros for the guys to wear and the waiter came out in a bigger hat than anybody else. It was great to see so many of the newer club member join in all the fun and it’s great that they are taking turns with planning dinner events and giving the activities girls some ideas. The cars are really attracting a lot of notice when parked together and we are having people stop in their Vettes to inquire about our club. It’s great that no matter what year car you have they all look great and are fun to drive. If you aren’t coming for the dinner runs, please try to join in on all the fun. Check the club website for more information.

The Friendliest Corvette Club in Florida
IT'S SEBRING TIME AT LONG LAST
Sebring International Raceway originated from a World War II military training base known as Hendricks Field. During the war, this air force base trained over 10,000 B-17 pilots and crewmen. After the war, it became the Sebring Airport. In 1950, sports car enthusiasts thought that it would make an ideal track for sports car racing. The first event was held December 31, 1950, the event was a six-hours in length. The first 12 Hours of Sebring was held in March 1952, and every year since except for 1974. Sebring was the first race of the newly formed FIA Sports Car World Championship in 1953. Sir Sterling Moss was a co-driver in his victory in 1954. Sebring Raceway was also the site of the first Formula One race ever held in North America in December 1959. The glory years were in the 1960's when Cobra, Chaparral, Ferrari, Porsche and Ford GT40 battled for wins on this great track. One of the greatest races may have been between Steve McQueen and co-driver Peter Revson nearly won the race, finishing a close second to Mario Andretti. Sebring fell in to disrepair in the 1970's, but began a steady rise back during the 1980's, and by the 1990's had returned to its rightful place as the USA's greatest sports car race. In 1999 the track underwent a major, multi-million dollar renovation, and now ranks as one of the finest tracks in North America. This will be the 54th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. Come to Sebring March 15-18 and see history as it happens. The Corvettes are one of the most popular cars. There will be a corral for Corvettes with many events and drawings for you to enjoy. This year the corral has been moved to allow for more Vettes. Over 250 are expected to be in the corral for several days of this event. Come and be a part of The America Le Mans Series, the luxury brand of North America motor sports. This race was born from the roots of the most renowned auto race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Hope to see many of our club members at the track! Save The Wave, Hollyann

MEMBER HAS RUN IN WITH TREE
Bill Ulisky was leaving the Carriage House after our monthly meeting and was less than a block away before losing control of his vette. He slide into an oak tree which managed to take out the entire right side, shattered the windshield, popped the top off and buried the front end in the grass. Someone upstairs was watching and Bill has no serious injuries, sorry I can't say the same about the car. No news yet if the car will be totaled. It's at Dale Warrington's shop waiting for an inspection from the insurance company Final words for "FASFWRD" It is with deep regret and sorrow that as of 3:38 pm on Feb.15, 2006 my 2000 Corvette FASFWRD (LIC. plate) was declared a total lose. I survived, FASFWRD, did not. Her life began in the fall of 1999 in BOWLING GREEN KY. She took up residence in Ohio for the first 11/2 years of her life. She was brought to Florida by Jim. I bought FASFRWD from him in Feb. 2002. I think her greatest thrill came in the summer of 2003 at the ATLANTA MOTOR SPEEDWAY. She did 5 hot laps hitting speeds of 130 to 140 mph in the straightaway. Instead of flowers, FASFWRD would like for all of you to take your Corvette for a wash and wax. The good news is through an expansive trans plant network; many of her vital organs will go to help other Corvettes live. Her final wish was for the CORVETTE community to forgive me for destroying an AMERICAN ICON. Thank You and Good Night, |

FUN TIME AT ANDRETTI THRILL PARK A good number of members showed up to speed up the highway to Melbourne for all the fun. The Go Karts were the first and most regular stop for everyone. The crew soon found out which were the fastest cars and how to get to them the time around. No one was injured and we all had a good laugh. Seems to me that Bonnie was the fastest a lot of the time. Then off to the batting cages for some great laughs, at least from those of us that didn't try it. After several hours we headed off to Texas Longhorn for a lunch and a lot more laughs. The food was great and we all got a time to relax. Then we all saddled up for the ride home If you didn't come this time you really need to try for the next time.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Indian River Corvette Club doesn't just have fun driving around in our cars, but we have a chance to make a difference. It's time to start collecting for our Women's Refuge Bath, Body & Beauty Drive. We will be collecting donations in April and take last donations in June. Members can bring their donation to club meetings or drop them off at my work, Longevity Fitness Club & Spa. The idea behind this drive is to donate items that would help to encourage and build up the ladies that come to the Women's Refuge. Preferred items should be bath, body and beauty products. I would like to encourage you to be creative. If there is a product that you absolutely love that you think they'll enjoy go for it! We really look forward to helping these ladies get back on their feet. Thanks for your support! Shopping Ideas:

| Corvette C6.R Named North American Car of the Year by dailysportscar.com
Corvette Racing's championship-winning Corvette C6.R race car has been named the "North American Car of the Year" by dailysportscar.com, a noted online magazine that provides in-depth coverage of sports car and GT series worldwide. In announcing the selection of the Corvette C6.R over marques such as Audi, Aston Martin and Maserati, the editors wrote, "The two yellow missiles utterly dominated proceedings in GT1. They were nothing short of world class throughout the year, taking ALMS and Le Mans titles at the first attempt - how many more might follow?” |
